2. Your account
- You must be 13 or older to create an account.
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in email secure. We will never ask for your password (we use passwordless sign-in via email links, Google, or Apple).
- You agree to provide accurate information for trip bookings, particularly for visa processing — incorrect information can cause your application to be denied.
3. Bookings, payments, refunds
How booking works
- You register interest in a trip via the app.
- An admin reviews your application and, if approved, sends you a unique payment reference by email.
- You transfer the trip fee to the bank account shown in the approval email, quoting the payment reference.
- Once we receive the funds, the trip becomes "active" on your account and you receive a family code to share with travelling companions.
Refunds
- Refund policy depends on the trip, the timing of the cancellation, and the cause. The trip's specific terms — communicated by email at the time of booking — take precedence.
- In all cases, visa and entry-fee components are non-refundable once processed.
- If we cancel a trip, you receive a full refund of all amounts paid.
4. Acceptable use & zero tolerance for objectionable content
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. By creating an account and using the app you agree to this policy. When using the app, you agree not to:
- Post or upload content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, hateful, threatening, or otherwise objectionable.
- Use the app to harass, bully, abuse, or threaten other members or scholars.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or systems.
- Impersonate another person, scholar, or organisation.
- Use the app to send spam, advertise unrelated services, or solicit funds.
All user-generated content (testimonials, photographs, community notes, and questions) is reviewed by our team before it becomes visible to other users. Every piece of user content can be reported from within the app, and any user can be blocked so their content is hidden immediately. We review reports promptly and will remove objectionable content and suspend or permanently remove users who post it or who behave abusively, without notice. Objectionable content and abusive behaviour are not tolerated.
5. Trip conduct
While on a Haraka Tours trip, you agree to:
- Respect modesty and etiquette guidelines, especially at holy sites.
- Follow the directions of group leaders and walking guides, particularly during the Arba'een walk and other high-traffic events.
- Inform the group leader of any injury, illness, or change of plans promptly.
- Not engage in political demonstrations or sectarian conflict at any site.
We reserve the right to remove participants from a trip if their conduct endangers themselves, others, or the group's ability to complete the programme. No refund is provided in this case.
6. Intellectual property
- The Haraka Tours name, logo, and app design are our property.
- Trip content (welcome packs, scholarly lectures, photographs we publish) is licensed for your personal, non-commercial use only.
- Content you upload (your photos, testimonials, notes) remains yours; you grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it within the app to your tour group and, with your separate consent, more broadly.
7. Health and safety disclaimer
Pilgrimage tours involve travel to regions with different infrastructure and health risks than the UK. You are responsible for arranging your own travel insurance and ensuring you are medically fit for the trip you book. We cannot accept liability for personal injury, illness, or loss caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.
8. Liability
Our total liability for any claim relating to a booking is capped at the price you paid for that trip. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other matter where exclusion is not permitted by law.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email before they take effect. Continued use of the app after the effective date means you accept the revised terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
